Getting a naming deal was an important part of Tottenham Hotspur's plans for their new stadium at White Hart Lane. However, just like West Ham United at the London Stadium they have found that the appetite for such deals has declined.
Talks with HSBC collapsed after it did not prove possible to agree a figure. HSBC chairman Mike Tucker was keen on a deal. He was formerly chief executive at AIA group when the Asian insurance group became shirt sponsors at Spurs in 2013.
However, others at HSBC thought it was more suited to its existing sponsorships in golf and rugby union than football.
It's a no brainer, let's call the new stadium after Daniel Levy. Call it the mean b******d stadium.😀
