Arsenal fans in Surrey are planning a breakaway club with the aim of rising through the non-league ranks like AFC Wimbledon: Dial Square FC

Their plan is to return eventually to a purpose built stadium in Woolwich. This proposal has not gone down too well with Charlton fans who refer to Arsenal as 'Woolwich Rejects', but don't want them back in the area as competitors, albeit there are still quite a lot of Gooners in South-East London.

Those behind the project should bear in mind the difficulties encountered by FC United. Even AFC Wimbledon have found raising money for their new stadium far from straightforward.

The gold standard in European football grounds is the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in north London, a £1bn construction project completed in 2019. Its impact on the club’s finances has become increasingly clear as the effects of the pandemic have faded. Spurs to sell minority stake

Tottenham Hotspur is in talks to sell a minority stake in a deal that could value it at up to £3.75 billion and pave the way for Joe Lewis and his family to sever ties with the Premier League football club. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is seeking an investment that values the club at between £3.5 billion and £3.75 billion, including debt.
